Building the future of healthcare
delivery on the East End

East Hampton Emergency Department (Opening in Late Spring 2025)

SOUTHAMPTON HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION

With your support, we can continue to expand access to healthcare on the East End.

For over 110 years, Southampton Hospital Association (SHA) has been at the forefront of advancing healthcare delivery on the East End. Beginning in 1909, SHA, with the help of local business people and their families, raised the funds to purchase a house on the corner of Meeting House Lane and Lewis Street to be designated for the emergency care of its citizens and visitors. Over the decades, with the generous support of donors at every level, SHA has rebuilt, renovated and expanded that original building. Today, it is the site of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and the time has come to build a new state-of-the-art facility capable of meeting the diverse healthcare needs of our growing community.

Please join as we build the future of healthcare delivery on the East End that will serve your family for generations to come.

The two firms will work as a seamless integrated team throughout all phases of design, documentation and construction. They have identified BR+A as consulting engineers. The firm designs responsive, high-performing buildings where people and ideas thrive to provide the highest level of patient care, construction fabrication, resiliency and sustainability.

The plan for the new hospital is the result of research by Erdman, a national strategic planning firm specializing in healthcare which studied service offerings, population health, patient experience, new care models, and the existing facility. Fifteen acres on the Southampton campus of Stony Brook University have been designated as the site of the new state-of-the-art facility that will replace the existing Meeting House Lane hospital location, which dates back to 1924.

About Southampton Hospital Association (SHA)
For decades, SHA operated Southampton Hospital, which was founded in 1909 to serve the population of Eastern Long Island. During that time, SHA made numerous expansions and improvements. In 2017, the hospital joined Stony Brook Medicine and SHA turned over the hospital operating certificate to Stony Brook University Hospital who operates the facility under the name Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. SHA continues to own and maintain the buildings and real estate where the hospital and many of its satellite services operate. SHA supports Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in its mission to deliver and expand access to healthcare services and clinical programs that meet the many needs of the East End communities. In April 2019, SHA completed The Phillips Family Cancer Center, a state-of-the-art facility that is changing cancer care on the East End. In addition to building the new Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, plans are underway for an East Hampton Satellite Emergency Department.
